The 1973 Embassy European Rallycross Championship was the first season of the European Rallycross Championship and the beginning of European rallycross.

The top two men were British drivers driving Escort RS1600's, John Taylor and Rod Chapman.

They finished level on points at the end of the year leaving the title to be decided by race wins. As Taylor claimed 3 round victories vs 1 victory of Chapman it was the Scotsman who became champion.
